Blogs of Note

Here are a list of blogs that I like to keep up with. They range from diary blogs, review blogs, satirical blogs and there's even a South African surgeon on there. Under each link is a small description of what they write about. They are in no particular order of preference or quality, I am simply going down my blogesphere list and picking out the best alphabetically:

Angry Mob
This blogger blogs about the many misgivings of the modern tabloid (normally the Daily Mail). He has a strong fan base and has even captured the attention of this journalist [wikipedia]. The blog is quite well established and well written. You do get the feeling that the writer puts a lot of research into their arguments.

Conform, Consume, Obey
This was the man who unwittingly got me into the idea of blogging. His writing of political argument is so convincing I would almost assume he was Alistair Campbell himself. He doesn't blog very often, but when he does, I get very excited.

Kaboom - A Soldiers War Journal
I, myself have only just found this after hearing a lot about it. This blog has a massive archive that I haven't yet had chance to get through, but from what I've read, and what I've heard, it has earned the author fame over in the US. This blog is truly inspirational to any that read it and gives the common person a true insight to what war is like for the soldier who fights it. This is just an archive site now, the writer now blogs at Kerplunk; which is the blog about life after the army.

Never Cease Reading
A very new blog, just beginning to emerge as a sapling. It's difficult to see where she will go with it, whether she'll carry on using it as a blank canvas for her ramblings of life or whether she'll decide to take it down a specific path. I know the writer personally, and I think she's more than likely going to just carry on using it as a vent along with adding the odd topic of discussion to each post.

other things amanzi
The writer never reveals their gender, and it is very difficult to distinguish this from the way they write. This is one of my all time favourite blogs to read. The author is a surgeon in a province of South Africa called Mpumalamga and it is filled with many, many thought provoking stories of this certain surgeons experiences in their profession; some funny, some sad - they all capture your attention and are seriously gripping.

SmilesInTheRain
Another one of my friends blogs. Not much in the form of issue discussion, again, more of a blog about the happenings of their life. Can be quite humorous in quite a dry way at times, but always good for a read if you got time to waste.

The Persistence of Memory
Pointless ramblings and useful reviews - find it all here. That's right, you can find all that here, and pictures of bunnies thrown in for good measure. The reviews are second to none of both big, well-known bands as well as the small up-and-coming talent that are currently touring the Newcastle music scene. Definitely a recommendation for anyone who loves rock music and American TV shows.
